What is PolySteel?

PolySteel is a form for concrete that is manufactured from expanded polystyrene. The expanded steel that ties the form together is also incorporated into the steel furring strips on each side of the form for securely attaching interior and exterior wall finishes. The forms are assembles to create walls, which are then filled with concrete and reinforced steel. The polystyrene stays in place as the wall insulation.

Sound Choice™

The ultimate in laminate underlayment

The underlayment reduces the noise from laminate and wood floors on today's busy households and is suitable for the use over all types of subfloors including concrete. It is also non-allergenic, the high-temperature process kills bacteria and fungus, while an antimicrobial additive retards mold growth and provides moisture (a vapor barrier).  Adds R-Value to chilly floors.

The R-Value of POLYSTEEL

As a PolySteel homeowner, you'll save 30-80% on your annual heating and cooling costs! Can you believe that?  You'll also enjoy lower mortgage cost, less maintenance expense, and reduced homeowner's insurance rates.  The PolySteel walls are guaranteed more energy efficient, they minimize outside air infiltration, leaks and drafts.

Walls made of PolySteel perform, on average, like a stick frame wall constructed for R-40 insulation. This is because the Total Effective R-Value performance of PolySteel consist of 3 factors.

  1. The R-Value of the expanded polystyrene
  2. The thermal mass of the concrete
  3. The enormous reduction in air leakage.

PolySteel walls actually perform as high as R-50 in some areas of the country.

Radiant Heating

Radiant heating systems involve supplying heat directly to the floor or to the panels in the walls and ceiling in the house. The delivery of the heat goes directly from the hot surface to the people and objects in the room via radiation of the heat. Radiant heating is the effect you feel when you can feel the warmth of a hot stovetop element from across the room.  Radiant heating is more effective than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because there isn't any energy lost through ducts.

Hydronic Radiant Floor. Hydronic (liquid) systems are the most popular and cost-effective radiant heating dominated climates. The floor system in this home pumps heated water from a boiler through tubing laid in a pattern underneath the floor. In this system, the temperature in each room is controlled by regulating the flow of hot water through each tubing loop.

The PS·3000

Poly Steel PS·3000 Waffle Grid Form

The PS·3000 series waffle-grid insulated concrete wall system Grid Forms represents the most cost effective engineered insulated concrete wall system on the market. A four hour fire rating, Perform Guard® EPS termite protection, and a performance record of 25 years.

The waffle-grid ICF forms vertical concrete that posts every 12 inches on center and horizontal beams every 16 inches for maximum use of materials. The strength of the concrete formed in the wall system is exemplified by its laboratory-tested ability to withstand the impact with flying debris form a 250 mph wind at its most vulnerable point, the 2" web of concrete the post and the beams.

Design Flexibility. The PS·3000 comes in 6", 8", and 10" sizes, providing you with the forms you need to build everything from one small safe room to a commercial building with walls 50 feet high! 90° corners are available in all three sizes and they produce a 45° corner in the 6" and 8" forms.

Ease of Use. The improved tongue and groove design of the PS·3000 makes the form completely reversible and easy to install on the job site.  The 1 ¹/²" width of ease 13" high steel attachment stud provides a generous surface area for mechanically securing any type of wall covering desired. The recess stud is clearly marked as a guide for easy alignment and allows for the easy application of synthetic stuccos without any additional preparation work.

Cost Effectiveness. Using 25% less concrete than any flat wall IFC, the PS·3000 can also give you the strength and the performance of a full 6" flat wall in less space. With a 9-¹/4" wall thickness, compared to a 11" of a 6" flat wall, the PS·3000 may save you the inches that you need to meet the tight specifications of your project. Less concrete and narrower walls can also mean less pump time, less labor, and less additional materials to cover the finished project.

Superior Performance. With over 27 years of performance experience, the structural integrity and energy-saving performance of the PS·3000 wall system has proven itself in thousands of projects all over America. And the Polysteel 4 hour fire rating was achieved using our smallest 6" form, giving you all of the design flexibility and security you need for any residential or commercial project.

The Strength  of Steel. Their patented (pending) PolySteel tie (galvanized welded steel wire) provides the strength, durability, fire resistance, and dimensional stability that is the hallmark of the PolySteel name. The open web design of the welded wire provides superior concrete flow and consolidation to help ensure the performance of the entire wall system.

 What is ENERGY STAR®?

ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. The mark identifies new homes, buildings, and more than 50 types of products that are energy efficient and offer features, quality, and performance that today's consumers expect. By purchasing a ENERGY STAR qualified home, you can have all the desired features you wish, plus better performance, and lower utility bills- all while helping prevent greenhouse gas emissions.

ENERGY STAR was introduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992 as a voluntary partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through increased energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR offers the consumers energy efficient solutions to save energy, money, and help protect the environment for future generations.  More than 9,000 organizations, including over 3,500 of the nation's home builders, are ENERGY STAR partners, committed to improving energy efficiency at home.  By the end of the decade, more than 2 million homes are expected to earn the ENERGY STAR. As you choose to select one of these homes you can be confident that it will increase you value if you ever decide to sell.
